Partner and Senior Design Animator

Work as a partner in a small architectural 3d animation business where I multitask on many different types of activities, from management to system administration to animator. My managerial responsibilities include: market services to potential clients, engage existing clients, write proposals for work, bid on new work, manage web presence, design marketing materials, and invoice for work completed. My system administration responsibilities are to develop a local area network, design and configure a network rendering farm and manage a marketing web property and online collaboration space. As animator I work in CAD and 3d modeling software to generate animations, develop sound tracks, and post production editing and effects.

Teach Internet and Multimedia at a senior undergraduate and graduate level in the school of Art and Visual Technologies. Class listing for spring 2005 was AVT 486 and AVT 616. Work as a contributing author for the Department of Art and Visual Technology College of Visual and Performing Arts in the development of a publication titled “Live Movies, A Field Guide to New Media for the Performing Arts” in association with Resources for Change award from the National Endowment for the Arts (http://www.avt.gmu.edu/mps/).

System Engineer
Work as a Systems Engineer implementing a J2EE (Java to Enterprise Edition) ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) based enterprise management system for a large geographically dispersed government client to manage their hardware and software assets. My responsibilities include a dispersed mixed of activities from developing a transition plan for implementing the system into a live environment while migrating current process and databases without disrupting current SLAs (Service Level Agreements); to system troubleshooting, hardware configuration, system and user acceptance testing and subcontractor interface; to requirements gathering, project collaboration and training strategy development and coordination.

Web Multimedia Developer
Architected, designed and developed a corporate portal utilizing content and document management systems technologies for total knowledge management within a portal system. Integrated an automated process for the population of the portal sub sites which feed knowledge hierarchically through the system. Integrated search, web directories, browse trees, taxonomies, customer support, employee databases, work flow, archival, standardized interfaces and meta data in to the system. Performed functionality testing, user acceptance testing and adhered to internal requirements and those of a secured government environment. Built the system using customer baseline server software and hardware technologies. The system streamlined internal publishing and situational awareness process saving publishing time while integrating ITIL business processes.

Enterprise Web Information System Development:
Participate on a multidisciplinary team to conduct content analysis of existing USGS web site (approximately 1,000,000 pages) and to develop content management tools for browse functions for the USGS World Wide Web. Work with USGS stakeholder to develop an information architecture, gain requirements, and transfer online publications into a content management and document management system. Develop the contextual metaphors for browse capability, navigation system, and content labeling. Procure and implement information discovery tools, both internally and externally for the USGS WWW. This includes technologies which aid with content analysis, web metrics, search and browse. Develop with project team the conceptual design of content organization for the browse function. Create content and contextual information structures and architectural web page mockups, design sketches, and web-based rapid prototypes. Design graphical user interface for thematic approach to browsing all of the USGS web sites, to reflect the organizational, functional, and visual metaphors of the USGS World Wide Web. Integrate visual graphic design elements with content for the web site browse capability. Create animations, illustrations, and 3D renderings for a variety of earth and biological science topics. Develop reports using market research data to determine primary and secondary audiences for the USGS web site. Work with team to develop a cost benefit analysis of USGS Enterprise Web information science initiatives. Graphically integrate all components of the Enterprise Web project (Standardized Lexicon and Tagging, Robust Search Capability, Geospatial Search, Product Warehouse, Information Architecture and Web Browse Interface, Customer Evaluation and Expectations, Information Infrastructure, E-commerce and Publication Warehouse). Conduct technology assessments of content management systems, media asset management systems, and related hypermedia technology tools. Understanding of the constraints in designing graphics for the World Wide Web, such as telecommunications bandwidth, user-defined browser settings, browser compatibilities, color palettes, graphic resolution, monitor sizes (PDA); along with accessibility standards, W3C and OMB Section 508 and 515.

Developed program specifications, script and query creation, coding of program procedures and the development and execution of test plans as needed for website development. Provided continuity to the entire corporate website, including aspects of programming, development, design, and marketing.
